The Scout DI UTM Payload on the Scout 137 Drone offers high-resolution visual data collection and Ultrasonic Thickness Measurement (UTM) in a single flight, enabling multimodal data acquisition that enhances efficiency while ensuring safety during inspections. With this UTM payload, comprehensive assessments can be performed remotely, eliminating the need for climbing or exposure to dangerous conditions.
Integrated with the Confined-Space Inspection System, the UTM Payload features live A-scan functionality, allowing inspectors to collect both visual and thickness data simultaneously. Its unique tethered design provides unlimited flight time, ensuring uninterrupted UT inspections without concerns about battery life, allowing users to focus on precision and accuracy.
Motorized Adjustable Probe Head: The custom-designed motorized UT probe arm features a smart release function, allowing you to disconnect the probe without repositioning the entire drone. Adjust the probe head angle remotely while in flight, enabling measurements on surfaces at various orientations.
Permanent Magnets: Integrated permanent magnets around the probe face ensure secure contact on magnetic surfaces, enhancing measurement reliability. |
Location-Tagged Data: All visual data and UT measurements are automatically tagged with precise location information, enhancing data management and traceability. |
Equipped with advanced 3D LiDAR, the Scout 137 provides rock-steady positioning and anti-collision support, even in Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) conditions. Utilize the camera feed and minimap for safe navigation during inspections.
The Scout 137 Drone with UTM Payload is ideal for:
Structural Assessments: Efficiently inspect and measure the thickness of structures without the need for climbing, significantly reducing safety risks.
Marine Inspections: Compliant with IACS standards, making it suitable for inspections of ships and offshore units.
Industrial Inspections: Perfect for assessing various industrial infrastructures where manual measurements can be challenging and unsafe.
Frequency | Measuring Range | Color | Diameters Available | Suitable for |
---|---|---|---|---|
2.25 MHz | 3–250 mm (0.120" to 10") | Yellow | 13 mm (0.5") | Most UT gauging applications. Works well on heavy corrosion. |
3.5 MHz | 2–150 mm (0.080" to 6") | Green | 13 mm (0.5") | For UT thickness measurements on thin metal which is corroded. Normally used only if measuring down to 2 mm is of importance. |
5 MHz | 1–50 mm (0.040" to 2") | Blue | 13 mm (0.5") | Ideal for UT gauging on thin metal in good condition. Not advisable to use as the main UT probe. |
Couplant Container and Rapid RefillThe ScoutDI UTM payload is equipped with a generous couplant gel container that holds enough gel for up to 100 clicks of the gel button, significantly extending the duration of Ultrasonic Thickness (UT) testing per container. The exact amount of testing possible depends on the surface condition and user preferences while probing. The couplant gel pump is conveniently controlled through a dedicated on-screen button in the Scout App, making it simple to manage gel application. When the container runs low, swapping out for a new one is quick and straightforward, ensuring uninterrupted operations and efficiency during inspections. |
